Question 1

What is Contractor Stack?

Accepted Answer

Contractor Stack is a software directory for home-service businesses. It organizes software by trade, category, business need and capability so contractors can find, compare and evaluate tools more easily.

Question 2

Who is Contractor Stack for?

Accepted Answer

Contractor Stack is built for home-service businesses such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, landscaping, pest control, cleaning, restoration, remodeling and general contracting companies, as well as other service trades listed in the directory.

Question 3

How do I find software for my trade?

Accepted Answer

Open the Trades page and choose your trade to see software linked to it. You can also browse by category or business need, or use the AI Software Advisor to get suggestions based on your needs.

Question 4

What is the AI Software Advisor?

Accepted Answer

The AI Software Advisor is a free tool that suggests software from the Contractor Stack directory. You describe your business and what you need, and it returns a short list of matching products with an explanation of why each one fits.

Question 5

How does the AI Software Advisor choose recommendations?

Accepted Answer

The Advisor first uses structured matching on Contractor Stack's stored directory data, such as trades, business needs, capabilities and pricing, to pick likely candidates. AI is then used to interpret your description and explain the matches. It does not search the open web during a recommendation, and information that isn't in the directory is marked as not confirmed instead of guessed.

Question 6

Does the AI Advisor recommend software that is not in Contractor Stack?

Accepted Answer

No. The Advisor only recommends published Contractor Stack products. Any suggestion that isn't a published listing is discarded.

Question 7

Are AI recommendations guaranteed?

Accepted Answer

No. Recommendations are a starting point based on the information you provide and the data available in the directory. Please verify important pricing and features with the software provider before purchasing.

Question 8

How does the Compare feature work?

Accepted Answer

Choose two products and Contractor Stack shows them side by side, including category, starting price, business size and capabilities such as estimating, invoicing, payments and QuickBooks integration.

Question 9

Where does software pricing information come from?

Accepted Answer

Pricing shown on Contractor Stack is stored directory information based on what software providers publish or supply. Pricing can change at any time, so always confirm final pricing with the provider.

Question 10

How current is the information on Contractor Stack?

Accepted Answer

Listings are maintained over time, but software features, integrations and pricing change frequently. Treat listing details as a guide and verify final details with the software provider.

Question 11

Can software companies submit their product?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Software companies can use the Submit Software page to suggest a product for the directory. Submissions are reviewed before anything is published.

Question 12

Can a software company claim an existing listing?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Companies can request to claim eligible listings through the Claim a Listing page. Once approved, they can maintain permitted factual information. Claiming a listing does not make it recommended or featured.

Question 13

Are some listings or placements sponsored?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Contractor Stack may show advertisements, sponsored placements and Premier Sponsors. These are labeled, for example as "Advertisement" or "Premier Sponsor".

Question 14

Does paying for advertising guarantee a recommendation?

Accepted Answer

No. Advertising does not automatically guarantee inclusion in AI Advisor recommendations. Recommendations are based on your stated needs and the available directory data.

Question 15

How do I contact Contractor Stack?

Accepted Answer

Use the Contact page to send us a message. Software companies can also use the Submit Software or Claim a Listing forms.
